Dear All,

Please see if anyone has the same question/concern and any experiences shared is appreciated.

I am Canadian sponsoring my wife (in China) under 'Family Class sponsor spouse from outside Canada' Category. About to send out application say, Nov. 2013, considering the waiting time might be 5 months or longer, so, We are thinking of apply a Visitor (Visiting Husband) at same time, say (Nov. 2013).

Please tell us if there will be any sort of negative affect our Immigrantion sponsorship. Will there be any conflict? are the two application stand alone by itself? means if unlucky any refusal of one application will not directly affect the other?

All our purpose is to shorten the separation period between me and my wife.

(p.s. we have a daughter together)

thanks alot

It will only affect your PR application negatively if the visitor visa is refused. If you look at your application forms, there is a form which asks questions such as "Have you ever been convicted of a crime? Applied as a refugee? Deported from any other country? Have a serious illness? etc" These questions are red flag questions, meaning if you answer YES to any one of them, your application will face greater scrutiny. Now, notice one of the questions asks "Have you ever been refused a temporary visitor visa?"

If your wife is refused that visa, you will have to answer YES to that question. Now the question you should ask yourself is, how likely will she be refused this visa? It will depend on many things:

-wife's travel history
-wife's current job and how much money and assets she has
-how many family members are living in Canada, and how many are back in China (ideally, she should have no family in Canada, and lots in China)

I dont know the rest of your background, but it would seem very likely she will be refused because you guys have a daughter together, are married, and by bringing both of them here, it won't seem likely both of them will return.

My best advice is for you to go visit them, rather than go through the trouble of them visiting you.

thank you 'mikeymyke' for your detailed answer.

because you reminded, I relooked that IMM5669, indeed, there are bunch of check Yes/No questions, for that d) question, as soon i see the first word 'refugee' i checked No as i think we have nothing to do with refugee. but as you reminded, i now see it also asked if tempurary visa had been refused or not. That is true, it is a thing to consider.

this make me worry about another thing, my wife's visitor visa (we tried to apply visitor visa as boyfriend and girlfriend) was refused back in 2012, but becasue we at that time hasn't married, and not yet have the child in common. So, I hope that will not have negative affect on th PR application now (we are married and now have kid in common)

thank you again for your time
