Hi,

I am hoping to just clarify that I am filling out the correct forms.

I am Irish, my boyfriend, Canadian and we have been living in Ireland together for 10 years.
Currently starting the sponsorship approval via Family Class.

Am i right in thinking that we fill out IMM1344 for the sponsor. I have read that we need to prove that my boyfriend will commit to returning to Canada once we go through this process and we will have this.

Thanks in advance for any replies.
Good luck to all in their applications.

Errr... well that is ONE of the forms and additional bits he (as the Sponsor) needs to fill out. I am sure you must have already found it, but the CIC website has the complete list and some really very good checklists. Check it out here:

Ok perfect thanks for replying.
Yes that was the link I was on. That was just the first form but knew about the others - just wanted to confirm that it was correct for the sponsor, especially living outside of Ireland. Being a little too cautious, even at this early stage!

Huh? In your first post you said you were living in Ireland, now in this post you say you are not living in Ireland? Is this just a typo?

Not that it matters overly, it is you nationality that is important, not where you currently hang your hat (although that gets to be fun as if you live in another country for more than 6 months, you will need a police certificate from that country etc.).

You will certainly have a lot more questions as you get into the forms and additional information you need, although the new pack is less tricky than the old pack (I hesitate to say easier!).

Another excellent resource is the British Expat forum for Canada and especially the Wiki help files (Yes, I know you are not British, but the requirements of Ireland and the UK for spousal sponsorship are very similar). Worth checking out here:

Hope this helps.

Yes a typo sorry. Both of us living in Ireland!

So much information to get my head around.

I will use the links you sent, lots of reading over the coming days - appreciate your responses :-)
