Hi there everyone, I have been looking around and everyone seems really helpful, so I was hoping someone might be able to help me with my query. I am 21 and British, my father (also british) is a Canadian Perminent Resident since 2002, he is married to a French Canadian woman, and my brother is also a Perminent Resident since 2003. I am currently in Canada as a visitor however am soon hoping to send my residency application whilst I am here, under Family Sponsorship - Dependant Child. I am totally confused about the Inland / Outland option, and also which forms Im meant to be filling out! On the website I followed the links to 'Applications processed inside Canada' and chose family class, and the forms are all the same as the ones found under 'Outside Canada'. Is this right? However then my dad found forms for an Inland application, but they seem to just be for spouses... Does anyone know which class I should be applying under and, whether I should be inland or outland, and where I find these forms??! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can definitely be sponsored, I am classed as a dependant child under the age of 22

A son or daughter is dependent when the child:

•is under the age of 22 and does not have a spouse or common-law partner

(I am under the 'Spouses, partners and dependant children' section not 'Other eligible relatives')

however we are just confused about which sets of forms we are supposed to fill out :/

If you are a dependent child I believe your application will need to be done outland.

I think I am making it more complicated than it needs to be... Hmm thank you. Ok outland, I hear thats quicker at the moment anyway. If it is outland does this mean I fill out the forms as if I were living in the UK even though I am staying in Canada for as long as I am allowed to (6 months).

If you are legally in Canada you can use your Canadian address as your residential address.

And yes, outland is almost always quicker than inland. London seems to take ~2 months for dependent children, so you should be done before your six months have passed.

I'm pretty sure that you have to file outland. I don't think there is a choice to file inland for dependent children. Processing time for London is on average 2-6 months. I would actually suggest that you use your UK address as your residential address (since you are presently not a resident of Canada, but a visitor) and use your Canadian address as your mailing address. Good luck.

Ok that sounds simple enough. I dont know why it has seemed so complicated. If I apply outland am I still able to have my medical done in Canada?

Yes, you can still have your medical done in Canada (or anywhere else that you choose really). You just need to indicate which visa office will be handling your case which for you would be London.

1. Were you included in your father's application when he became a permanent resident and did you have a medical exam? If not, you are not a member of the family class and cannot be sponsored.

Thats a very good point because I bought that up with my father, as I was concerned I could not be sponsored. My dad says hes 'unsure' but seems to think those werent the requirements back then. He said he included all of us, but I definitely didnt undergo a medical. :( Im worried now

My brother had a seperate application to my dad, he wasnt an accompanying dependant, his application was like mine. Its quite frustrating though as neither my father or brother seem to be sure of their process, which doesnt help me at all

Then you weren't examined and are not a member of the family class, and cannot be sponsored.
