Hello Forum Members,

I am seeking expert advise from experienced members. My situation is like this:

My wife and son (19) will be eligible to apply on 18th April but will apply after 10 days on 1105 days physical presence after vacation (they have 2 vacation in 2011 and 2012 to home country of total 80 days). I am eligible to apply on June 13th with my 1095 days physical days (I have little more absent than them which is 140 days total as per my every exit/entry stamp in passport).

Should my wife and Son apply in April without me? also we all planned to go on vacation for 6 to 8 weeks due to summer school holiday. In that case, if they apply in April and leave Canada on vacation end of June, is there likely CIC schedule test while we all are out ? We will have mail box someone will check mails. In that case, should they apply in April and inform CIC about vacation issue before leave so that they will not schedule test during July/Aug ? Or apply in May so that test date could be after Aug? I am not sure how fast CIC will process the new applications now..

Please advise...

I'm not an expert and I'm not experienced either but here is what I think. Usually when you apply you get a letter of acknowledgement around 2 months later informing you that they started processing your application around the time they sent the letter with the book to prepare for the test.
so Application date :18 April
Start process : around 18 june (after 2 months)
Do u think you'll be invited for the test a few weeks after that? That would be the fastest case ever.
don't worry you will not hear from CIC until at leaaaaaast 3 or 4 months after they start processing, assuming your application is complete. Also since you will be eligible in june why not wait and apply together?? this way your wife and son would have accumulated more days and you won't have to worry about receiving a surprise invitation for the test. Forget about Bill C24 I don't think and I'm hoping by june it will still be on a shelf covered with dust. ;) ;) ;)( Me too, i'll be eligible in june 18)

definitely let CIC know about your vacation and check any mails you receive from CIC. you can also receive RQ while you are on vacation (not because of this vacation). so it is necessary to keep a tab on any mail you receive from CIC. 60 days is a long time. couple of weeks, i wouldn't have worried.

I know a person who received a book Discover Canada and invitation to the test same day, she applied in Sep 2013, past interview in February 2014 and is Canadian now.

Anyone can go on vacation while application is in process but informing CIC will be the good thing so that no issue will arise later on during interview. Receiving test date within 4 month from the application receiving date by CIC is most unlikely but no one can predict as some are reporting they are finding test date within 4-5month now specially application from 2014 processing will be fast no doubt.

Therefore, your wife and son can apply after 4 weeks from April 18 which will help them to get 30 days buffer plus when test date will be scheduled by CIC, they will be in Canada. Straight forward case for homemaker's and full time student (if they are) unlikely to get RQ once they meet 1095 residency.

As you will be eligible in June, you can apply your own as there is no advantage applying together rather there might be disadvantage of possible delaying other member processing if you get RQ for any reason.
