Hi all,
An emergency situation in medical at panel physician. Is there any minimum eye sight limit for PR. My vision is non correctable by glasses. It is 6/36 in one eye and 6/18 in other. Do I have any chance of getting rejected on this ground.

I also have a similar question.
There no Vision in my one eye since birth however I do not face any problem in viewing. My other eye functions well. Infact If I do not tell anyone about my eye problem, none can make out the difference just by looking at me. I do not wear glasses.

My question is in eye test do they just ask to read the letters to see if viewing is fine or they individually take test of each eye and draw their analysis. Is my eye problem going to an issue?

They just measure the visual acuity of your eyes aided and unaided (if you don't wear specs).

And no, you won't be rejected for weak eyesight.

My friends vision was 6/36 in one eye and 6/60 in the other eye. The doctor said the expectation is to have 6/18. Will she get rejected?

She has cataract in her left eye and has had another operation in her right eye and she told the doctor about her conditions and we have submitted the report along with medical. This also doesn’t impact her daily work and other activities.

I have no idea.

IRCC rejects on medical grounds if, the condition of the patient is contagious (eg, TB, Syphilis) or, financial, if the condition of the patient will impose a financial burden on the healthcare system, the current health care plan is capped at $6000 per patient per year.

I believe they would be evaluating the cost, the system will incur into her eye sight management and may make a decision on the basis of it. I can't really say.

As an Optometrist, I don't think, her condition is expensive to manage. An eye checkup once twice year, a cataract surgery once in 10-15 years and some aids for low vision should not be a burden on the health care system. People with HIV/AIDS and Thalleysemia have been accepted by IRCC, I don't think low vision should be a problem for them. But, then, I am not Health Canada or IRCC and have no idea what their opinion would be.

Do not worry, you will get through. If you are able to read the letters from distant even if it is from one eye, it should be okay. I have passed my medicals.

my husband was literally one-eyed since his teenage years, never worn specs too. We passed our medicals and got our application approved

We are now waiting for our eCOPR and PR cards

As for the eye exam, the immigration medical doctor noticed something and referred my husband to see a specialist. We were given a referral to an optometrist who thoroughly checked everything using different apparatuses in the clinic.Written report was forwarded to the immig. medical doctor. We never knew what the results of the tests were but it was suggested that my husband wears specs to protect his remaining eye since he works mostly in front of computer.

Hi Simmidas,
I have my medical in the coming week for the Student Visa. I also have the same problem as you mentioned above regarding one eye, I need some guidance from your side. I heard they usually check the individual eye for the eye test so should I go through with an extra medical exam with an eye specialist and jot it down on a piece of paper to support my claim that this problem is non-contagious before my initial medical, in case they decide to dig further during my eye checking, or should I leave this?

What should I do during the exam if they ask me to put an obstacle in front of my right eye and read with my left eye?

NEED YOUR HELP. I WILL BE GRATEFUL FOR YOUR GUIDANCE

They generally test the ability to read, even if it's from one eye only. as long as you are able to read from any eye, you are fine. Just inform them that your only one eye is functional and that does not stop you from doing any activity. There wasnt any special test in my case. I cleared my medical. You will also clear it.

Hello

I am extremely worried regarding my eyesight medicals because my vision is 6/24 in both eyes with glasses and 6/60 without specs. I am worried about whether I'll be through with medicals for Canada immigration. I have no problem in doing my routine works.

PLEASE GUIDE I CANNOT FIND ANY INFO IN THIS REGARD
