Extension visitors pass please help!!

Hi! My visitors pass expires on December 18,2016. I need to extend it but I don't know what reason to write to have a high chance of approval. Please help. I plan on marrying my fiance in around April and then apply for pr. I've been here for about 5 months. Should I say it's for common law? How should I explain? Please help! I'm from New Zealand, a visa exempt country.

you can say you plan to get married and apply for PR status and tell the truth. this is a very common reason for extensions to be granted. it's rare for pr applicants (or those planning to apply) to be denied extensions. especially if you are visa exempt. i'd recommend asking for a 12 - 16 mo. extension so you won't have to keep applying. show proof your fiance can support you while you're there.

Hi, thank you! Do I just state I need 12 months or more for pr? And how do I give proof that he can support me? I live with his mothers house with him, so we don't need to pay rent and he works part time. He graduates in April and won't have a full time job until then.

have his mother write a letter stating you are there staying with them and will provide you with your essentials. show any bank statements you or he have that shows you have money to support you while you're here. i'm not sure what the application looks like, but i'd assume there is a question about how long you want to stay in canada for. if not, ask for 12 or 16 month extension in your coverletter or somewhere in your application.

Unfortunately his mother does not speak English at all. She is unable to write it. Can we by any chance write it and have her sign the letter? He has 11grand in his savings and 3 grand in chequing. Is that enough to prove he has money or no? He works part time.

i don't think you can write the letter and have her sign it. as i'm sure that's not quite legal. what language does she speak? if it's french, she can submit a letter in french. if it's not french, then either you can get it translated and certified or you can forget the letter and just show your bank account statements and as much proof as you can that you will be supported while you're there.

no one can tell you this as it will depend on the officer who reads your application. you will need to apply and submit as much proof as you can and see what happens.

[i would suggest that you go back to New Zealand and apply for a visitor pass again. Remember Visitor permits or records even with expiry dates beyond 6 months, does not mean you should stay after 6 month. A visitor is a visitor for short period, if you qualify you can apply for pr using common law partner]

This is very bad advice.
there is absolutely no reason they have to go back to NZ to apply for a visitor visa. first of all, if they are visa exempt, they can't "apply for a visitor pass again". that's not how it works. second of all, it is perfectly legal and appropriate for the OP to apply for an extension of visitor status while in canada. this is a very typical request and very rarely denied. Also, visitor extensions are often issued for and can be longer than 6 months.

She can dictate and you can write the letter in English and have her sign it. As long as it's her words and she knows exactly what has been written, there is no issue. Along with his bank statements and his payslips, it should be fine.

To show you are serious about applying for PR, you can pay the fees now and include that receipt in your extension application. The payment doesn't expire.

Does the letter have to be certified by an official? We don't really have time for that. And we plan to get married later so I can't apply for pr yet as I don't even qualify for common law either. What about a certificate that shows his mother owns his house, then proof that he is in fact her son? Will that work?

The letter doesn't need to be certified.

Paying the PR fees now will show you are serious about applying when you qualify.

You don't need to show proof that she owns the house or proof that he is her son.

Ah, I was told that we would need proof. Such as where we live. So a bank statement alone is okay? And where would I pay fees now? We have a statement from his bank which has about 18 grand, which I think is a decent amount to show support. Would he need to prove he's working? (letter from work place) or no? Yes, you should submit payslips showing that he is working.
