Hello, how long does it take to gather everything for extending approx? How early before sending it should I start to work on it? How early do I need to pay or do I pay when I send it online

Totally depends on how organized you are and your specifics. Hard to tell. Some can apply in hours, some take weeks.

My mom is on Super visa (multiple entry) status and her 6 month entry expired on 20th Jan 2017.
I applied (on paper) for visa extension in Dec 2016 and still awaiting any response from CIC.
Now my mom wants to visit my sister in US for 2 months, but we are not sure if she should exit Canada before receiving the decision on extension application, as we dont have any proof of submission of extension application except payment receipt.
please advise if my mom can exit or not ?
