Extension Question

Hello All,

We sent in our common-law app earlier this month and we sent in a visitor visa extension request just before that so that my partner can stay in Canada while we wait out the process. We're trying to plan for what would happen if her extension request is refused (this would be the second extension) and I was wondering how long you're given to leave Canada if they refuse the extension? I am under the impression that it is 30 days but I am not sure.

If refused and the original status has already expired, I believe they'll just tell you you're now out of status and required to leave. There isn't a time limit - you're supposed to leave asap.

I wouldn't worry though - if you've submitted proof you're waiting for the PR application, they should extend it.
