Hi Friends - Need advice
I have an Post graduation Temporary work permit (open) & Work Visa. They were both valid for 2 years (as against 3 years) until November 2014 because my passport was expiring. I have got my passport renewed and got the work permit extended by 1 year. Now I am trying to extend my work visa. I applied with forms IMM5708, however, I got a reply saying, "You are currently in possession of a permit which confers status as a temporary resident in Canada. A temporary resident visa cannot be issued at our office". I have tried looking for how to apply for the extension of visa, but have not been able to find the right forms online. I have arrived at forms - but they are either for closed work permits or Visitor Visa after filling in the questionnaire. I think I am unable to arrive at the form for extension of work visa. Calls to CIC's Call Centre have been in vain - after waiting for hours - nobody pics up and I just receive the automated responses.
Not sure - if somebody has applied for extension of work visa. Can somebody please help me with which forms to apply and where to submit the application - can it be done online.
