Extension of Work Permit

Hello,
I have visa and work permit both of which expires on 1st Nov 2012. I have already applied for the work permit extension till 1st Nov 2013.. I have query that once I received the work permit extension, can I travel to USA in the month of May 2013 with the valid USA visitor visa OR do I need to also extend my Canada visa along with the Work Permit?

With a valid work permit, yes you can travel to the US and return. Only if you visit the US or St. Pierre et Miquelon.

Can my dependents also travel to US with the valid USA visitor visa and can enter canada? They were added as dependents in the Work Permit Extension and their visa also gets expired on 1st Nov 2012 and we planning to go USA next year.
