Extension of Work Permit or apply a new work permit?

hi, I have a work permit under a working holiday condition between Hong Kong and Canada. And the permit will be expired in August. My employer wants me to go on working after August. I would like to make sure if I can apply for a new work permit or I can apply for the extension of the current permit. I consulted my Conuslate in HK and they said that the permit cannot be extended. :'( so, I have doubts to apply. I got a application package from mail but I'm not sure if I'm eligible.

And if I have to apply for a new work permit, do I have to apply for a TRV in Hong Kong to return to Canada? It is because I will go back HK in August and plan to come back Canada to go on working.

1. If you wish to work after the WHV expires, your employer will have to obtain an approved LMO after advertising the job in the jobbank. If it is approved you can apply for a new work permit. It depends on your citizenship if you require a TRV or not. If you don't require a TRV, you can get the work permit when you return to Canada with the valid LMO.
