Hi,

I have submitted online application for extension of Super Visa for my parents from within the country (Canada) last month. My parents are scheduled to travel back in first week of Sep'2016 due to personal reasons. I was expecting the application to be processed before they travel back, but it seems now the processing timelines have increased.

I would like to know that can I cancel their visa application on CIC website or can the application be transferred to Canadian consulate in India for processing. The Application status is Open.

Thanks,
Viraj Rao

The extension only works if they remain in Canada. Once they leave Canada, the extension is canceled - it can't be processed outside of Canada.

Can I cancel the application?

Thanks

If their current status is valid past the date when they are leaving, then you can cancel the app.

However, if their status will expire prior to the date they leave or has already expired, you can't cancel the app right now because that could leave them without status at some point. You could cancel after they have left Canada.

Thanks. They are travelling back before the end of expiry date of their visa. In that case I believe the application can be cancelled.

As long as you understand that expiry of their visas, their TRVs, is different from expiry of their status.

Yes, Thanks

Does one need to explicitly inform CIC that the applicant is leaving the country before decision is made?
