If you send it by mail, make sure you use a "signed for" service.
Once it arrives you are on "implied status", postal can take over 120 days to process, times are here.

There are no guarantees, but it seems like you would get at least 100+ days in Canada on implied status, even if you are refused.
I have never been refused an extension, so I can't quote from my experience.
Others may comment on their experiences.

Thank you. So, i need to write down my details that i am waiting for my OWP/PR. Is it possible to include also i didnt find work? My work permit expired last jan.2011, then IO at the border gave me visit record for a month that's why i am extending it because of my in process application.
