Extension of Temporary Resident Status

I am a permanent resident.

My Mom has a visitor visa for Canada, and has been visiting me here since June.

She wants to apply for an extension of her temporary resident status, so she can be here for another year before going back home.

Her reason for staying is to support me in my day to day chores as I go through a major career transition this year.

Does anybody know if there are any restrictions on how long CIC will extend her temporary resident status?

Six months at most.

But it's always possible they might extend her visa for a shorter period of time or refuse the extension completely.
