Hi guys,
I am currently studying in a university in Montreal as an exchange student for less than 6 months (which ends in April), so I hold an ETA (can stay for 6 month each entry) to enter the country in January.
Now, I received an offer from Canada Mitacs Globalink Research Internship to work as an intern in another Canadian university in Montreal during the upcoming summer for 12 weeks (starting from May). The internship position has 40 hours of work per week. It is listed that intern under this scheme is eligible for applying IMM1097 - 120-day work permit exemption for researchers (which has work permit exemption for the job), when they enter Canada through the airport. But, this policy is not applicable to those who are currently in Canada.
Given that
- it is impossible to change from visitor status (ETA) to work permit inside Canada, and
- the length of my current planned total stay in Canada (study + work) will be around 7 months (> 6 months)
what do u think I should do?
