Hi - I am currently in India. My employer applied for my CANADA WP last year sep 2013 and i have not traveled with that WP yet.

My WP will expie by SEP 2014. Can i renew my WP while i am in India without travelling to CANADA.

Renewal is not automatic, your employer will need to advertise the job and reapply for the LMO in order for you toextend your permit.

Personally, if you have had a valid WP and not used it, I would think that the CIC would be inclined not to grant you another.

Hello JGK,

It is an incorrect assumption on your part that if you don't travel & work on a valid WP CIC would not grant you another permit.

I didn't travel to Canada on my first WP as the employer withdrew the job offer before I could travel to Canada. I found another employer and from my experience I was asked less paperwork as compared to the first time I applied WP.

In my opinion it works the other way around. CIC sees it as a positive sign that you didn't try to sneak into Canada when the employer withdrew the job offer.

My advise don't lose hope and if I were you I would start looking for another job.

Best of luck.

I agree, if the employer withdraws rthe offer you shouldn't turn up in Canada on that WP. But hemanth1983 only says that he has a WP, has not used it, and now wants to renew it. He doesn't say anything else, so one must assume the renewal is for the same employer. inthat case the CIC might want to know why he has not used the original WP.

Thank you all for your suggestions..

I am still with my current employer, i did not lose the job, i just could not travel due to some open positions within my project.

Now we are anticipating a potential opportunity opening up within my current employer, so i an just trying to find if it is possible to renew my WP with the current employer without traveling to CANADA with that WP.

1. Technically am i allowed to renew the WP without travelling?
2.IF Yes, what additional documents do i need to submit.

Please provide your valuable inputs.
