Extension of Canada Visa

Hi...I am a software Engineer and I have Canada Visa (Work permit with my company) which is going to expire by Jan 22nd, 2015. I am currently residing in India and my employer want to extend my visa now. Is it possible to extend it for a year, if I apply for it today? If no, then what I need to do to get Canada work permit again.

You can apply to extend the work visa provided your employer has obtained a new LMIA.

Thank you so much for your response. But could you please explain me what do you mean by new LMIA? If my employer has that then how long will it take to get my visa extended?

Your employer has to obtain a new LMIA to prove that a foreign worker is still needed to fill your role. The LMIA process takes several months to complete (I would budget 3-5 months).
