Hi :)

I'm digging this subject coz I want to be sure about all possibilities (hoping with all my heart it won't be needed).

IF my visa extension gets denied and they tell me to leave - do I have to notify some people at the airport that I'm leaving?

I've read a post from somebody who had to leave, left but didn't mention that to anybody, no stamp in the passport etc. and when he tried to re-enter after longer time he got denied. It turned out that his notice to leave changed to deportation as the officials didn't know that he left Canada! : :-X

Who should be informed at the airport that I'm leaving??

based on what you read as someone talking to it's very own experience, i do think you have to inform at least showing you are in good faith of informing. if not telling, what benefit do you get?

That's the thing, I don't know how it goes at the airport. :) If they can see it in my file in their system by scanning my passport or should I point it out to them.

computergook told me that:

"It is very important if one is issued a departure order to check in with CBSA at the airport. They will take your departure order and update the computer system to note that you have departed. From my reading of the processing manuals (ENF 11 in particular) this should prevent you from even being flagged, as you complied with the departure order.

If you leave Canada without informing CBSA of your departure, the departure order converts to a deportation order. With a deportation order on your file, you are banned from returning to Canada for life. Or until you are granted a written Authorization to Return to Canada (ARC)."

But now I have to find out if the refusal of extension they may send me IS actually a departure order or just a refusal with an option to appeal or leave. :-\

Much better to inform CBSA before you leave atleast you will have a chance to reenter in the future. Btw, may i know the reason why denied?
