Hello all,

Just had a quick question hoping someone can clear this with me I been in Canada for 5 months so far and wanting to extend it, I had multiple entry that expires on October 2015, I have a Philippine passport that's stamped when entered, was wondering if I'm able to extend my stay? Or do i need to go back to the Philippines and then come back again or is it okay if I go to border and had stamp on my passport again.? Because I still want to stay with my grandmother and experience the winter and summer here in Canada. Thank you

yes you can extend your stay in canada as a visitor. to do that you dont have to leave canada or go to the border to extend your stay.
to extend your stay you can submit an application online (faster processing) or submit a paper application. if you choose to make an online application goto http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend/visa.asp for more details.

points to remember:-
1) you must submit your application at least 30 days before your current status expires.
2) you may require to undergo an medical exam (best todo an upfront medical exam)
3) during the process if your visa expires you will still be allowed to stay until CIC makes a final decision on your extension application.

hope it helps

If you want to appy online to extend your stay in canada, these are the steps:-

First determine your eligibility to apply online ( http://www.cic.gc.ca/ctc-vac/getting-started.asp )
step 1: Fill out the complete questionnaire
Step 2: on the completion of step 1 you will get a CODE, Write it down on a paper
step 3: create a Mycic account using the above CODE ( following the instructions while creating account)
step 4: Based on your questionnaire you answered in step 1, your Mycic account will automatically be consisting the application forms which you have to submit ( download them)
step 5: upload all the forms, your photo and documents and pay your fee in your Mycic account
Step 6: once everything completed Submit your application for processing.

-uploading supporting documents: scan them all, paste them in a word document file and upload them.
-After submitting wait for the outcome, they will notify about any updates in your Mycic account by sending you an email.
-Applying online will save your time as paper applications have longer processing times.

Medical Exams:
You can choose not todo medical exam at this time until cic request one form you. IF you want to undergo a upfront medical exam follow these steps :-

Step 1) you need an appointment first from an approved doctor. Only Panel Physicians approved by Citizenship and Immigration Canada can do this exam. you can find the list of approved doctors from this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx

you can call for appointment to the nearest doctor where you live from the above link. (best to choose a doctor who give you an early appointment ). Also check with the doctor's office when you book your appointment about e-medical (if the doctor work with CIC via the E-medical). e-medical exams are use to record and send Immigration Medical Exam (IME) results to CIC. It is more accurate, convenient and faster than paper-based processing.

Step 2) on the appointment day. take your passport, identity

Step 3) on the completion of the medical the doctor will give you a paper having your details and IME number etc..its sort of confirmation of medical exam.

Step 4) scan the document and upload it into your mycic account.

Hope it helps.
