Extending your stay as a visitor

Hi Everyone,

My wife and I are Canadian PR. We just had a baby a month ago. My mother-in-law arrived in Canada four month ago on a regular visitor visa. Her visa will expire in 2021.

When she entered Canada, they did not put any date(that she must leave).

I did my research. It seems with regular visitor visa, she can stay in Canada for a maximum 6 months period.
But we want her to stay in Canada until May. So, she will be in Canada for 9 months.

Is there anyway for us to extend her stay?

I found this link on CIC website.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/extend-stay/apply.html?fbclid=IwAR3GT3Ck1VEIPvxwar2uixo5rBwljwbhaI3S9OoGgLt4Rk6QWxwgLWTH7O4

But, when I click on "Apply to extend my stay". It asks me to sign in, and (after signing in) it takes me no where. Any idea?

Cannot answer why after signing in nothing happens but if in doubt why not just submit a paper application given once submitted the visitor can stay on in an implied status until a decision has been made on the extension.

The link above is correct just follow the paper route.
