Extending Working Holiday Visa for Taiwanese citizen.

This is my situation:
My GF is on 1-year working holiday visa
Wants to extend her stay because of me.
Her Visa expires in 30 days.
She will be returning to her home country in two weeks but wants to come back.
Her country of origin is Taiwan.
She lives with me currently.
I am financially stable to take care of myself and her as well based on figures posted on CIC website.
She also been working for the last 9 months as well and still is.

What I want to know:
What can she do to stay?
Is she able to extend her work permit?
Does she have to change her status to visitor? Means no more working correct?
Would applying for an extension be too late to be processed? Don't want to waste money if there is no possibility

Her work place is not willing to go thru the process to give her a work permit so that is out of the question.
I want things to work however need more time, I do not want to initiate a marriage proposal yet either if that was an option.
What status is a working holiday visa listed under?
if I'm applying for extension, would it be under;
1) extension of my temporary resident status
or
2) restoration of temporary resident status as a vistor or initial tempoary resident permit
or
3) extension of temporary resident permit ?

panicking abit as we are falling short on time
I really dunno what to do and this online application is very confusing for me from the cic website
as well as the paper app

Any assistance is appreicated!

She cannot extend her work permit.

She can apply for a second working holiday visa (if she qualifies). If she does not qualify for a second working holiday visa, then the alternative is to have her employer obtain an approved Labour Market Opinion and this will enable her to apply for a new closed work permit. (Note that the Labour Market Opinion process will take several months to complete.)

She could apply to change her status to that of a visitor (she can't work as a visitor). But if she's leaving Canada in two week, then this option won't work. Once she returns to Canada, she should re-enter the country as a tourist and then remain in Canada under that status.

As said by scylla, she cannot extend her permit. And Taiwan doesn't allow for a second participation in the working holiday program.


Are you thinking of going the sponsorship route in future? To be able to sponsor her as your common-law partner, you need to have lived together continuously for one year. Be aware that any separation while she is back in Taiwan, especially if it lasts for longer than a few weeks, could be seen as a break in the continuity. This would mean that the previous time spent living together wouldn't count towards the required 1 year, so you would have to restart the 1 year when she returns to Canada. If you get married, there is no requirement to have lived together for a year.
