Good Afternoon, All.

I would like to ask for some help considering my situation. I have a post-grad work perm based on receiving my undergrad in Canada expiring expiring 25Jul2015. I have a full-time job and currently enrolled in express entry awaiting to pass the first stage (if ever). My application is considered to be "open" and I am eligible under Federal Skills worker and Canadian Experience classes.

As I received my work perm, I was unemployed for about 8 months, so according to the information I read on the CIC web-site, I can extend my perm based on that gap. Moreover, as the limit is 4 years for temp worker, could you please advise if I could expect my work perm to be extended for more than 8 months?

Could you please suggest the best way to extend my perm as I got lost in the online application and I feel it's limited in options. Should I hire a lawyer or the situation is straight-forward?

I would be happy to receive any recommendations and suggestions.
Thank you in advance for your help.

1. You will have to have a LMIA to extend your work permit, unemployment doesn't count for PGWP but only for the 4 year maximum of the work permit. A new work permit would only be valid to total the 4 years plus the 8 months of unemployment, if you can prove it. It might be difficult as your PGWP was open, so you could have worked anywhere.

thank you very much for your help.
As I am a full time at the company, still the company would need to perform LMIA in order to "hire" me for my position?

Yes - an LMIA is certainly still needed.
