Hi there,
I was wondering if anybody could help me out with the following case specific questions:
I plan to apply to extend my visitor visa as described at the cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visitor page . A lawyer told me that approval of this was essentially automatic if I met some basic conditions; for example, I have ample money to support myself. I've completed the form linked from there, but have a few questions:
1) For question 1 ('UCI') under the top section:
The instructions say "The UCI or Client ID can be found on your study or work permit under the section “Country of Citizenship”." But this seems inapplicable given that I have a visitor visa rather than a study of work permit. In my passport, I have only a stamp saying '80707 / VIA/AIV [ie. Vancouver Airport] / 15 AL 2014'. (Does this suggest I'm missing something, such as a stapled document that fell out?)
So, what should I put for this?
2) For question 4 under 'Coming into Canada' ("If applicable, provide the document number of the most recent Visitor Record [etc.]"):
As described above, I have no clearly-stated such number, unless it's provided in my passport stamp. Is this question applicable and if so what should I put for it?
3) For question 1 under 'Details of visit to Canada' ("Purpose of my visit"):
I want to extend my visit to stay with close friends, not working but rather enjoying a break to live off my very substantial savings. Should I put 'Tourism', or 'Other' (for which only 'Want to live with close friends' would fit)?
4) For question 2 under 'Details of visit to Canada' ("Indicate how long you plan to stay"):
I plan to fly home to the UK on 23rd July (as indicated on the visitor form I handed in on arrival at Vancouver airport). I would only return to Canada some months later. So, for the 'from' date under this question, should I put the 24th of July, or else the earliest date I might return, or else a day I make sure to buy return flights precisely on? Putting the 24th of July would let me extend my permission to visit to last precisely one year from my initial entry into Canada on April 15th.
I'd very much appreciate answers to these questions. Many thanks in advance!
