Hi everyone, I had a question about extending visitor status in Canada.
I'm a Canadian citizen, my girlfriend is an American citizen who's been visiting me in Canada since June. My understanding is that she would have to return home on December 18th, since that's six months after she arrived. We are planning on getting married in early December and then applying for her PR through spousal sponsorship.
When should we apply to extend her stay in Canada? Also, the Immigration Canada website said that proof of status in Canada is needed, but her passport wasn't stamped, so how do we prove that she's a legal visitor?
One other unrelated question: it says that when applying for PR, she must submit a police check, as well as police checks for "members of her family". Does this include her family who currently lives in the US and isn't planning to move, or does that just refer to any family members also coming to Canada (if she had any)?
