Hi All,

As you may have read form my other post, my extended visitor status (i'm a british citizen)expires end of November, and i'm thinking about applying to have it extended for another 6 months, reason being, i will have got married in September and want to spend more time with my husband whilst we fill our our PR application and do another ski season together. He can support me financially.
What i'd like to know is if they are likely extend when i've already been here a year, and if they ask me to leave instead, how long will i be expected to wait before i can re-enter the country. if i re-enter after like a month after having the extension denied could that cause me to be flagged, and what exactly happens when you are flagged?

Given that you will be married when you apply for an extension, it is more likely than not that they will extend your stay again. However, should they decline to renew your status and then attempt to return shortly thereafter, it is quite likely that you will be denied entry - because they suspect you are essentially trying to obtain early admission. It's a bit like borrowing money from a Bank - if you need it, they don't lend it to you. If you don't need it, they are willing to lend it to you.

I'd suggest that you should plan on at least 3 months, but others may have further insight into this, because there is no hard and fast rule.

Once you are flagged, it is likely you will be asked to go to a secondary inspection point each time you try to enter Canada.
