Ive been in canada for two years on the IEC then when that finished i got a tourist visa to stay and travel. however shortly after the people i had worked for offered me a job as a live in caregiver. i have applied for this but as the processing takes so long my tourist visa may run out and i'd have to leave the country then come back when i get the work permit. i want to stay in canada untilt he work permit comes through as i pretty much have no where to live in my home country.
i wanted to know if anyone kne wif it's possible to extend a tourist visa while you are waiting for a work permit to come through.
We have to use the right terminology.
A tourist visa (TRV) is a paper attached to your passport which grants you entry to Canada and might give you a visitor status. It has its own expiry date.
A tourist status is the status granted by CIC (not necessarily by a TRV). It has its own expiry date (diferent from TRV).
Now correct me if 'm wrong:
- Came here as IEC.
- IEC expired. Applied as a worker to "extend your stay as a visitor".
- Applied as a visitor for a WP.
Is this correct?
