Hello!

I’m currently a Visitor here in Canada. I came here on December 2021 and my 6-month stay will end around the first week of June 2022.

My longtime boyfriend (a Canadian Citizen) proposed to me and we’re planning to get married here in Canada on March or April 2022. We’ll be applying for Inland Spousal.

Question:

Should I apply for a Visitor Extension BEFORE I get married? Or should we get married first THEN apply for Visitor Extension?

You should apply to extend your visitor status around 30 days before your 6 month stay ends. You don't want to do it too early.

When you get married is really irrelevant.

But if you're getting married in March or April, you definitely do not want to send the extension before that. This will be too early.

plus if your married and are applying for an inland sponsorship, you can request for a longer visitor record on the bases of an application being processed

doing the extension before the 30day not going to benefit you
