Extend visa online

Hi friends, I would like to extend TRV online but could n't find any difference between extension vs initial application? any one can help with this?
Plus visa expires April 29 can I apply now or I have to wait until March 29?

1. Are you confusing a TRV (which allows you to apply to enter Canada) or a visitor record which allows you to remain in Canada.
2. TRVs can't be extended, you apply for a new one, and visitors must apply to an overseas office. You can apply for an extension of your visitor status in Canada: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp

1. Now would be a good time, unless you don't think it will be approved, then a week before it expires, so you will have implied status.
