Hi,

My wife came a s a visitor and her stay validity will expire on 8/5/2015...I applied for renewal on first of April 2015, and wondering if i didn't get the reply before her expiry date.

I read on CIC website that she will be on implied status, but my question how can I proof that or how can I follow up the status, i tried to call cic many times but they are always busy. I mean i don't have any proof that I sent the renewal application (any file number or such things)

Please advise.

CIC does not provide confirmation that you have implied status in Canada. However, you should keep proof that you submitted the application before your work permit expired. This includes copies of the application, the fee receipt, and something that confirms the date it was sent and delivered.

Obviously the above information is for work permits, but it's still relevant for visitor permits.

If you applied online, presumably it's easily proveable. If you applied by mail, then you probably should have used recorded mail and kept proof of the application arriving at the CIC office.

I applied by mail, and yes I have copy of the application, canada post receipt and payment proof.

So i don't have to do anything now and just wait for their reply? is she legally staying inside canada even after she reach the visa expiry date?

It's all good and legal, you don't need to do anything.
