Hi, there. My girlfriend is on a student visa expiring soon and we will only have 7 months of cohabitation by the time it expires. In order for her to stay longer and meet the definition of common law, I think our only option is to apply for a visitor visa.

As I was looking into visitor visa application, I noticed that she needs to convince them that after the 6 months, she has strong ties to her country and is intending to leave the country. If we prove an say the she is intending to leave Canada after the visa but instead, we send an application for common law right before she leaves. Won't that affect negatively our common law application ? Can I send a visitor application with dual intent ?

Can establishing 1 year of cohabitation be a valid reason to ask for visitor visa ? It seems to contradict the part where she must intends to leave Canada at the end of the visa.

Also when applying for visitor visa, should we pick the option: "visiting a family member" (we are not married). or just select "none of the above" ?

It would be nice if somebody has been in a similar situation and can give some insights. Thanks !
