Hi, is there anyone knows if I need to extend my PGWK do I need LMO(Labour market opinion)? Coz on this forum, I saw some fellow mentioned LMO when they want to extend work permit, plus the extended work permit isn't guaranteed?

Mine gonna expire in 2 years. I am kinda worry if I can get PR prior to it expires so that I don't need extend it. The checklist from CIC only need job offer and some regular stuff. Please let me know, thanks.

As per my experience, you need LMO to extend your PGWP.

I know this because I just got a refusal letter for my work extension application and the letter stated that they could not approve as I requested without a valid LMO and Confirmation from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

You still have 2 years left so my advise to you is to apply for PR at least a year in advance or talk to your employer and get a positive LMO for your PGWP extension.

Good luck!

Thanks, Misun. I already started to apply. So you mean LMO is I need ask my employer to write a letter for me and then I need to send it to HRSDC to get a positive LMO? What do you mean positive or negative? Thanks again.

No, your employer applies to HRSDC for the LMO, not you. S/he doesn't have to advertise if you are on a PGWP. See: http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/fwp_forms.shtml

Hi, a bit confusion here. The link only says NOC O,C,D and some other streams. My job belong to NOC B, I didn't really see that class. Also, extended work permit isn't guaranteed? It all depends on CIC judgement? THanks.

If you still have 2 years left on your PGWP, do NOT have your employer apply for an LMO now. Have them apply about 6 months before your current permit expires.
