Hi All,

I am quite stressing at the moment. My PGWP is expiring soon by the end of Nov 2021.

Can anyone please help me the steps I need to extend my work permit.

Due to Covid 19 - I could only work on a NOC C job and which is preventing me from apply for PR.

Please let me know whether if I am eligible to extend my work permit or is there a link I can submit my work permit extension.

Thank you for your help.

Kind Regards,

Ridwaan

Hi,

Could you guys clarify something for me?

"Due to COVID-19, you may be eligible to apply for a one-time open work permit of up to 18 months if you apply online by July 27, 2021.
Who can apply
To be eligible for this open work permit, you must meet the following 5 requirements:
  1. Your post-graduation work permit (PGWP)
    1. expired on or after January 30, 2020, or
    2. will expire within 4 months from the date you apply for this open work permit."

So my friend's PGWP permit expires on December 19th 2021, Is she eligible to apply ?
PGWP expiring on or after Jan 30, 2020 can apply. so technically she is eligible, right?

She is not eligible.

She can only apply once her current PGWP is within 4 months of expiring. However the program is only available right now until July 27, 2021 which is more than four months from the expiry of her current work permit.

It's possible IRCC may extend the program. However for now, she is not eligible to extend.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the previous reply.

On a clarification point, I am not too sure about the following;

My work permit expires 27th Nov and I am extending the work permit as discussed previously.

Its asking me:
1) My offer of employment
2) LMIA

Therefore, I work in a call Centre under NOC C. Should I ask my employer to provide me a letter that I work with them and or could you guys please clarify what are required on those two documents.

3) Did I misunderstand, should I apply to extend my work permit before 27th July or within 4 month before my Work permit expires.

Thank you for help.

Kind Regards,
Ridwaan

You don't have to provide an offer of employment or LMIA if you are applying under the public policy. You're applying to extend your PGWP which is an open work permit.

You are supposed to apply within 4 months of your work permit expiring. I'm not sure if that means you should submit your application online on the 26th or if you can wait until the 27th.

@scylla can you help me with regards to which link should I apply it under because I could see only the regular visitor visa/study permit or work permit.
Its just giving me the options for Temporary Resident Visa when I selected no I dont have a job offer.

Therefore, should I select yes I have a job offer. Even though I working fulltime since 2019.

Can you guys please help me. I am stressed out because my work permit expiring on 27th NOV

@scylla - when I am on that section
Find out if you're eligible to apply

Does one of the following apply to you?

  • I am subject of a removal order that is unenforceable
  • I applied for a study or work permit before entering Canada which was approved, but not issued at a port of entry; or
  • I am in primary or secondary school, or a visiting or exchange student, in Canada with visitor status.
  • I am applying for an open work permit under an active public policy or pilot program announced by IRCC.
  • I am a student who has completed a program of study that is a prerequisite to my enrolment at a designated learning institution with visitor status in Canada; or
  • I applied for permanent residence and was found eligible (first stage approval) under one of the following classes:
    • Spouse or Common-law Partner in Canada
    • Humanitarian and Compassionate cases
    • Protected Persons in Canada
    • Live-in Caregiver in Canada
when I am hitting next after selecting the three NOs - Its asking me for:
1) Have you been told by an Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada office that you are approved in principle for permanent residence in Canada?

2) Have you submitted a permanent resident application in Canada?

3) Do you have a written job offer?

To my knowledge, is it not supposed to direct me straight to where I should Select temporary visa or Open work permit?

Please advise.

Kind Regards,
Ridwaan

I don't know what you mean by "the three NOs".

You need to answer "yes" to this question:
  • I am applying for an open work permit under an active public policy or pilot program announced by IRCC.

@scylla thank you for your guidance!
One last question:
1) On the family information, I am unable to sign at the bottom. Should I print it, sign it and then scan it as PDF?
