Hi,

I have 1 year old son and am working. My parents are here to look after my son but the problem is that they can stay only for 6 months and would like to extend them for another 6 months.

Please can someone tell me the reason to tell CIC for extension and process to apply for extension.

Thanks in advice.

As far as I can tell, and from what I have read personally on the CIC website, it's dependent on the type of permit you are in Canada with. What type of permit do you have?

If you are a permanent resident, you can apply for a super visa

any one on visit visa can apply for an extension to stay. so your parents can also apply for an extension to stay in canada. the simple more genuine reason can be that they need to spend more time with their son/daughter/grand children and they have to meet the requirements like proof of support from you , in addition cic may ask them to submit a medical exam.

Thank you for the replies.

Currently I am having work permit so I cannot apply for super visa.

Also, after getting my PR, there is another problem to apply super visa for my mother. Her name
printed different on my passport other than in her passport :(

My parents also have US tourist visa. so if they cross the border and reneter canada will they be allowed to stay for another 6 months here in Canada.
