nyssa- I hope you are aware that the police certificates need to be received by CIC within 3 months of the date of their issuance. If you ordered them recently from FBI and other states, they will have expired by the time you are sending the application in January.

no. my passport is still with the embassy.
It doesn't really matter since we're not permitted to leave canada during processing anyway..

when do you think you'll be able to get it? i'm wondering if that was the reason why my application is not here yet. oh i'm not leaving canada. i need it for my exam and to renew it.

did you get the letter that you can apply work permit or study permit with your aip?

alishan - Sadly, I am aware! I sent them out already. The next day, I realized on the forum that they expire before I'll be sending them out. Go figure! I cancelled a medical appointment I had in July, too. I figured the closer I did them to when I send in my application, the better!

A bit of a bummer, but still relatively a minor one. It may take a little more time but it's much better to plan well in advance and prepare a solid application than getting it together in a haste and potentially encountering a problem and delaying the whole process

I have no idea when I might get my passport back. Probably when all the papers are finalized (God willing). I know someone who was a failed refugee claimant then she applied for humanitarion and sponsorship at the same time (her case was before the law was ammended) anyways, I think it took a bit more time before she got any news.

Btw, it was included in my aip that i could apply for work permit and study permit now but since I still have a work permit (it was just renewed) Im not going to apply anytime soon.

About the study permit, even if it was given, the tuition fee will be way too high still (cause im not a PR yet so il be categorized as an international student... i think).

here's what i understand for our passport. cause my lawyer said that when i get something from my application of sponsorship let him know and he'll drop the refugee claim. it's like saying you're not moving forward with the refugee claim and they will return your passport back which you would sumbit to them again to give your permanent residency. what did you use to extend your work permit cause i need to extend mine as well.

i really dont know about that passport thing but... i just talked to my lawyers about the work permit and he took care of it. its just renewal. It shouldn't be a problem. you have implied status til they reach a decision..

thanks. i still don't have any update on my ecas. when you get update to send medical. did you get the letter first or the update on ecas? i thought it would've been faster if you already sent everything and pay for everything right away. did you pay for landing fee already?
