In order to be eligible for the Express Entry program, you must score at least 67 points on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The CRS is a points-based system that evaluates your education, work experience, language skills, and other factors.
Here are the factors that are considered in the CRS calculation:
  • Education: You will receive points for your educational qualifications, up to a maximum of 25 points.
  • Work experience: You will receive points for your work experience, up to a maximum of 20 points.
  • Language skills: You will receive points for your language skills, up to a maximum of 20 points.
  • Age: You will receive points for your age, up to a maximum of 10 points.
  • Spouse or common-law partner: If you have a spouse or common-law partner who is also eligible for the Express Entry program, you will receive an additional 10 points.
  • Arranged employment: If you have a valid job offer in Canada, you will receive an additional 200 points.
If you score at least 67 points on the CRS, you will be eligible to submit an Express Entry profile. However, there is no guarantee that you will be invited to apply for permanent residence. The number of invitations that are issued in each draw depends on the number of eligible candidates and the CRS cut-off score.
Here are some tips to improve your CRS score:
  • Get a high level of education: The higher your educational qualifications, the more points you will receive.
  • Gain work experience in a skilled occupation: The more work experience you have in a skilled occupation, the more points you will receive.
  • Learn a Canadian language: The better your language skills, the more points you will receive.
  • Be young: The younger you are, the more points you will receive.
  • Have a spouse or common-law partner who is also eligible: If you have a spouse or common-law partner who is also eligible for the Express Entry program, you will receive an additional 10 points.
  • Have a valid job offer in Canada: If you have a valid job offer in Canada, you will receive an additional 200 points.
If you are serious about immigrating to Canada, I recommend that you start planning early. This will give you time to improve your CRS score and increase your chances of being invited to apply for permanent residence.
