Hello,

I consulted lawyer and paid him 200$ and it was a waste of time and money. He answered a lot of my questions by " I think" "it should be" , " I'm not sure". After reading some posts and the replies on here, I realized that people on here are more knowledgeable than some lawyers!! I have two main questions.

- I know that I can earn points if I have one year or more of full-time (30 hours per week or equivalent part-time - around 1550 hours per full time work year) continuous Skilled Work experience INSIDE CANADA. Does it matter if I worked the 1550 hours with different employers? I worked research assistant at OttawaU and Carleton, so I have two different employers.

- Does the 1550 hours have to be in the same Job classification, or any continuous 1550 hours in Canada can be counted?

- According to NOC code; teaching assistant (TA) and research assistant (RA) falls under the same category (4012 Post-secondary teaching and research assistants) but they have different "main Duties Descriptions", So can I count the TA and RA together when counting the 1550 hours? In another words, given the fact that 4012 NOC classification covers both RA and TA together, can I consider TA and RA to have the same classifications although they have different duties descriptions?

I wanted to post the link to the relevant NOC code but the website does not allow that, If needed please google
" 4012 NOC code".

Some questions might seem silly but as you know any small detail matters when it comes to the permanent residency application process.

Thank you in advance, Appreciate your help!

1. Generally speaking, you are allowed to have worked with different employers as long as you can demonstrate continuous employment for a period of year- this means there should have been no substantial gaps in your employment.

2.The jobs can be in different NOCs, but they must all be NOC type 0, A, or B.

3. If you are applying under Canadian Experience Class, which I am guessing you are, I don't believe you are allowed to count any employment accrued while you were a student, so the question of your TA/RA employment may be moot. However, on this one, I suggest waiting for someone else to confirm this- I may be wrong.
