Hi All,

I am applying for Canada PR under Express Entry scheme from Bangalore - India. Working as IT Professional

My question is, Under Express Entry Is it possible to get a Job before I get my Canada PR Visa by what is called as "Invitation to Apply"??

I need to get this question cleared, as I need to have Job before going to Canada. And I dont want to resign my current job & go to Canada and search for Job. I have lots of loans and I need my salary to be credited in my bank account. So I cannot afford to go to Canada to search job resigning current job.

Even the Visa consultant from who is helping me to get Visa say that, they will assist in finding Jobs for me at "Invitation to Apply" stage and they are assuring me that I will have a job before I land in Canada. And he even says that, they will only give visa only if i have job in Hand. And once I have job offer, i will get my visa.

I asked them, how will any employer in Canada will offer me a job unless I have the visa, he says that, they will register my profile in jcanadian ob bank and associate the Visa reference number with my job bank account. So employer will know that I am applying for PR Visa & if i clear interview, they will offer me job.

Wanted to know what visa consultant is claiming is true??

Please clarify.

Thanks,
Maltesh

Unless you are employed in a niche sector/have a niche and in-demand skill set, it is virtually impossible to land a job when applying from outside Canada. This is worsened by the fact that you don't have a valid work status inside Canada now and are basing it on the PR decision.

The consultant is accurate in the limited sense that you can search and apply for jobs using the Canadian job bank (www.jobbank.gc.ca) but you're unlikely to ever get a call back from any of those employers as they would be able to access talent already available in Canada. Short of traveling to Canada on a tourist visa and exploring local job opportunities, there is very little you can do from India. No harm in trying but the odds are stacked against you.

All the best!

Thanks for your reply!

I am not sure if you have understood my question. I have already applied for Canada PR Visa under EE. And in an year or so, I will get PR visa. Wanted to know, while my visa is processing, will I get a job (at invitation to apply stage) as my Visa consultant is claiming?

Or I will have to apply for jobs only after I get my PR ?

It's extremely unlikely you will get a job while your visa is being processed. You can certainly try to get a job - but unlikely employers will be interested.

to answer your question, unless you have skills that are only found in a few hundred-thousands or you are doing something that Canada does not have enough people to do or you know someone who will give you a job as well as wait for you to come over after PR, chances are slim.

As others said, situation is against you but there have been success stories.

Not sure if you understand the entire process.

If you haven't reached the 'invitation to apply' stage (ITA), all you've done so far is create an online profile. What is your CRS score? That will determine if (and when) you are likely to receive an ITA. Even if you do receive an ITA, that has limited to zero relevance to finding a job in Canada. Canadian employers do not give any kind of preferential treatment to a foreign applicant simply on the basis of them having received an ITA.

You can apply for jobs at any point in time but you'll have work status only after getting your PR or any other WP. An ITA doesn't authorize you to start working in Canada.

Thanks again!

I havent reached ITA stage. Still I have to submit my credentials to ECA :)

Atleast during ITA stage, will I get some interview calls? if i crack them and get a job offer, then I can work after I get my PR Visa.

Or you mean to say that, i can get a job only only after i get my PR Visa?? And I have to go to Canada leaving my current job and search ?

If that is yes, Its really hard for me to afford to resign my current job, go to canada & search for the job. I cannot be jobless & salaryless as I have EMIs to pay every month.

Do you have Any suggestions for this?

Finding job is completely outside of immigration process. Government of Canada doesn't provide jobs and support to immigrants other than Job Bank.

You can start your job search online indeed.ca, monster.ca, etc. and you probably should. Whether the employer wants to contact you depends on individual companies. Some may entertain phone or skype interviews.

In general, they want to see you face to face before handing out job offer.

Either you are inside or outside Canada it's gonna be tough under such economic situation. But you never know.
