Guys,
Here is my situation:
- I have an active PR application with status being "medical passed" (received ITA in oct 2016 and submitted my application in November 2016). Today my profile was updated with BG check in progress ( from not needed this time).
- I am an inland worker with mine and my spouse"s work permit expiring on may 1st 2017. Our Canada Visitor visa expired in November 2016.
- someone in my spouse"s family passed away so she has to go to India next week.

Now my question is :
- To return back to Canada after 4 weeks or so, should I apply for her temporary visa using my WP. Would there be any problem considering my WO is expiring soon ?
- if we receive PPR in the meantime, what should I do ? Considering my spouse would be in India and her passport might be with CIC for temporary visa application?

I understand only 4 weeks are provided to applicants to submit their passports post receding PPR, is there anything I could do about it ?

Also, if we receive PPR before she leaves for India , should I be applying for temporary visa at all ?

-
Any help would be appreciated !!

Pre-Assessed..
if your visitor's visa is expired they will not let you on the plane coming back from India.

You may have to apply for a visitor visa while you are in India...
My friend got his study permit, went back to China without even thinking about the visitor visa was expired.
He was not allowed to board the plane from Shanghai to Vancouver because of that, he had to abandon his ticket..
He did then applied for the visitor visa from china, which took 2-3 weeks after submission.

I don't know how that works in India, but you might want to apply for your visitor visa based on your work permit right away after you land.
