Yes, you need language test results.

yes, you need to have IELTS certificate number and minumun requirments of 6 bands in Each category to make an EE profile.

Yes, there is no way you can submit an express entry profile without IELTS or CELPIP test results.

I got my IELTS results online couple of days back but it doesn't mention any certificate number. Do I have to wait to get the results mailed to be to find out my certificate number? Or is it same as my IELTS reference number?

>> The reference number will be mentioned right hand side right below your IELTS score. That's how they identify the result.

Language Test Report Form Number or certificate number is different from reference number..... i just checked my previous test report...
