Express Entry - Identity document question

I have got Invitation to apply for Canada PR via express entry. I have a kid, who is not coming to Canada with me right now. I don't have any passport for my kid. What other document can be submitted as identity document for non-accompanying kids other than passport?

I think you need to get him/her a passport.

Birth certificate, of course, any legal documents reflecting custody arrangements (if applicable), but you will still need to get the passport...
