Hello,

Me and my boyfriend have both lived in Canada for over 3 years. We have finished a college here and now have a year of work experience and we are almost ready to apply for PR. We have lived in common-law relationship since 2016.

As we would like to apply together, we have been wondering, would it be easier for us to get married? We know, we will have to prove our realtionship if we stay in common-law. But we don't know if we will have to prove it if we just get married?
Will it simplify the process or it could seem weird that we decide to get married just before we apply?

Thank you
I hope anyone can help us :)

You can apply as both Married or Common-Law Partner.

For Married, you will need to provide a Marriage Certificate
For Common-Law Partner, you will need to provide utility bills proving you guys are living together from past 1 year.
