Express entry Applicant, Wife and 2 kids

Hi there
When making application, my brother being the main applicant, would he and his wife need to do the English test ? Should they be successful in applying for PR status, they would have to enter Canada to validate visa, what timeline ? Would they be able to come to Canada to validate and then go back to South Africa to finalise their affairs ? What time line would they then have please ? Many thanks

For English test, only primary applicant is required to meet the minimum required language proficiency level. For the spouse, it is optional and he/she may or may not sit the test.
After approval, they normally will have to enter Canada within a year from the day of the medical test or before the expiry of their passports whichever earlier.
After traveling to Canada to do landing, they can go back to finalize they affairs. The only rule is that they will have to meet the residency obligation by being physically in Canada for at least 2 years out of 5 rolling years.
As for the timeline, each case is unique and different and no one can give you a precise estimate for that.
