Hello,
I'm currently in the US and we are looking to immigrate to Canada soon. I've submitted my express entry application a few days ago. My points stand at 464 and I'm waiting for my wife to graduate from her masters degree in December which will give us two more points. She is interested in pursuing a PhD and we are looking to apply to Canadian universities soon.

My questions,

1. Would having an express entry application as well as a student permit application for PhD cause any problems or can they co-exist?

2. About the funds to show once invited to apply, do we have to go back to our home country (India) to show the visa officers the funds available or can we do it at the nearest Canadian embassy in the US?

Please advise. TIA.

You can apply to university after getting PR as you may have to pay less fees.

You can show bank letter and/or 6 months bank statement from you bank account in US or in India
Please advise. TIA.

No it won't cause any problems...you can submit your study permit app...but be advised that it will be benificial to persue your studies after becoming PR as it will cost you less..tutuion
Funds can be shown anywhere you legally reside and also from home country (any or both) as long as the account is in your name..
Hope that helps ...good luck... :) :)
