Express Entry 2016 - Master spreadsheet : One spreadsheet for all AORs

Hello everyone,

My apologies in advance for this long post. But the issue required detailed explanation.

There were several spreadsheets created for 2015 Express Entry and the whole point of creating such spreadsheets was lost as the data points got scattered everywhere and every spreadsheet captured data and performed analysis using different mechanisms. While there is nothing wrong with keeping month specific AOR spreadsheets, the problem with this approach is that we as a community fail to capture opportunities to spot trends as the sample size is very small. CIC provides no information on whether they process applications based on monthly batches or draw-wise or any other criterion. We know from this forum that its not first come first serve for all cases either. With CIC maintaining a tight-lipped approach about their plans and proceedings, the onus is on us to help each other and make sense of data that we collectively have.

•Do previously rejected/cancelled cases get processed faster the second time?
•Do multiple PCCs and travel make processing comparatively slower?
•Is the processing faster for candidates who created EE profile very early but were invited late?
•Is processing faster/slower for candidates with arranged employment/Provincial nominations?
•Does additional document request slow down the process? Is it wise to submit commonly asked Additional docs with the initial application itself?
•Is the overall processing time shorter for applicants who paid upfront RRPF?
•Does ordering GCMS gets your inactive application noticed?

These are all assumptions captured from different sources but no one can answer these questions with reasonable accuracy as these data points are rarely captured.

Compare the analysis that can be achieved by 2014 spreadsheet (https://goo.gl/oLcrto : 6000+ rows 100+ columns) compared to individual analysis by several 2015 spreadsheets (some 2015 month level spreadsheets have under 100 rows).

I have created "Express Entry 2016 - Master spreadsheet" with the hopes that we collect data better in the coming year and make better decisions/predictions based on data.

***2015 SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER AOR APPLICANTS, I request you all to please update your entries in this spreadsheet as a significant number of applicants from these months are most likely to fall under 2016 CIC targets, quota and SLAs. Also, most of the Late Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec applications are seeing very slow processing ( probably due to backlogs, refugee situation, holiday season, technical issues???? ). It is possible that processing speeds may pick up in 1st quarter of 2016, the best way we can all track this is by being on the same page and updating the common spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet has only standard fields at the moment. This is by design as I want the forum members to tell me what they want from the spreadsheet. Add Comments about the comparisons that you would like to see. I have added several fields that should ideally eliminate the need for month-level spreadsheets. You can filter data based on draws, months of submission / AOR, inland/outland, CEC/FSW, PNP/non-PNPs, Local VOs etc etc from the same spreadsheet. There is also a column for LOEs that an applicant used so that others with similar situations can monitor progress.

I request you all to start using the 2016 Master spreadsheet. Add the URLs to your signatures, so there is enough visibility to this tool. This will not only prompt others to add their timelines but also prevent additional spreadsheets serving the same purpose. I will also need several volunteers to moderate the spreadsheet. Please let me know if you can help me with the moderation and clean-up of the data. Please also share your thoughts, requests, feedback, ideas or comments on the spreadsheet.

Hello Joel,

Great initiative, +1 for this.

I completely understand the issue here. I am a Nov AOR myself and check Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec spreadsheets every day for comparisons. One month data appears too small for any meaningful predictions.

We do get to see progress in these monthly spreadsheets, but extremely few positive movements or additional requests or denials to draw conclusions.

It does make sense to monitor movements for larger periods and the spreadsheet you mentioned will allow us to look for draw/ month /quarter based progress based on our preferences.

I have updated my information and encourage others to do so as well.

:) :) :)

You should probably copy and paste the info from the existing spreadsheets. That will show you the patterns that are already established, for example, CEC applications are very fast, but fsw and pnp seem to be 5+ months on average.

Hi Adin,

Thank you for updating your info. I am glad that you were able to relate to this problem. Please save the "Edit response link" so its easier for you to update application progress.

Hi liamE,

There are multiple issues here

* I do not want to use entries without permissions
* In 2016 spreadsheet I am trying to capture several additional fields. So entries may get out of sync when I create Analysis sheets.

Its best if applicants update their entries through the form : http://goo.gl/forms/zUHqumd8mO . It not only validates the entry but also will lead to more accurate analysis

Then you'll get no info from january-june applicants, since most of them have left this forum.

Yes. This is primarily for applicants who will see considerable amount of processing time in 2016.

I am trying to capture entries beginning from Sept/Oct 2015 AORs and further. Hardly any point in tracking Jan-June 2015 applications now.

Out of curiosity, why do you exclude July and August? Almost all July-August FSW applicants aren't processed yet.

I was of the opinion that July and August would have had majority of the applications already processed and only a small portion would be going into 2016.

If you believe that July-August applicants would also be going into 2016 then let me know and I will add July 2015 and Aug 2015 also in the form.

July 2015 and August 2015 AOR options also added to the spreadsheet. July and August AORs, please update your entries in this spreadsheet as well so that you can compare progress of your application with applicants of other month AORs.

Hi joelmath..

that's really a good work you did..
+1 to you..

I have a suggestion here..

if you can also add one more column of "Country of Origin"...
Country of current residence is already there in your spreadsheet.

Just that it can give an overall idea of country-wise applicants distribution.. based on country of origin..

As there are few entries have made into the spreadsheet till now... so you can incorporate this now with very little change in overall data sample

Hi Munjal,

Thank you for the feedback. By country of origin do you mean nationality/citizenship? It will of-course provide a nationality-wise breakdown of Inland entries that have selected Canada as country of residence. I am failing to visualize how that would help in understanding/analysing processing time calculations. Can you clarify a bit more?

@Other forum members do you have further suggestions for the spreadsheet. As Munjal pointed out the spreadsheet is still in its early stages and at this point we can play around with the data points without much impact.
