Can someone please explain to me how the Medical process works for outland applications? It's just another aspect of this process that I'm worried and confused about!

The story: My husband had his medical done in November because we were supposed to be ready to send our application in December but several unexpected circumstances caused that to be delayed until the beginning of April. (which is a real bummer because there's a %99.9 chance they'll expire and will have to redo them) The immigration doctor sent his part of the forms to Buffalo, but I thought I read here that other people had them sent to Ottawa? Can someone clear this up? And if the doctor did send them to the wrong place, what happens?? And how do they match up what the doctor sent away to the applicant's application?

WELL...Im from Venezuela and I got my medical exams and they sent to Trinidad, the doctor sent it to specific office...When you apply you must sent all application and include the receipt/paper that the doctor bring to you...this is the proof that the medical was done.. If your medical expired before they review it,they will let you know and you must redo..

Thanks Good Luck and Patience

Ottawa is a Regional Medical Office (RMO). The DMP sends their copy to their corresponding RMO. Then when your own visa office needs the medical report, they will request that from the RMO.

The medical receipt (IMM1017) your husband got from the DMP has a barcode on it. Same as the copy sent by DMP. As what SEVEN07 suggested, it's important that you send your husband's medical receipt along with your application, so that they can match up your husband's file with the medical report at RMO.

Medical is valid for 1 year, so you should at least plan for your application received by Mississauga before the medical expires in November. Then your husband can wait for the visa office to contact him before redoing the medical.

Good luck!

You're welcome. If you are too bored and want to read more details about DMP, you can try the documents that are linked off from the following post.

Don't worry, stay happy and calm! ;)
