Explain LMIA

Hello,

I'm an international student. I've been reading a lot about LMIA, but I can't understand the whole process.
Can you please give me a step-by-step instructions of getting LMIA?

If there is a place to read about it - please just post a link, but I would really appreciate if you share your own experience of getting LMIA - how hard was that? How does it take? What is the duration? etc
