Living in Canada currently, and need to go back Hong Kong immediately for a month, but my PR card is already expired.
Konw that holding Hong Kong passport is visa exempt to Canada. Can i fly back and when I arrive at immigration, just show my expired PR card and let them know my renewal application is in process? I just can't wait...please help, thanks.

Yes, you can. The airline will let you board the plane with a visa exempt passport and immigration will let you in with your expired PR card. However, keep your boarding card from the flight leaving Canada so you can right away prove to immigration that it was just a short trip in case they would think you have been outside Canada for the past few years.
