Expired PR Card

Dear all !

My parents are permanent residents of Canada (not citizens yet). They are now in home country but their PR cards will expire in 10 days' time from now. Due to family matters here, they're not sure of returning to Canada before the expiration. My question is that whether they are allowed to enter Canada with expired PR cards? Some of my friends said it's ok, while others said they will surely be denied entry by Canada Immigration officer ?!!

Anyone with similar experience, pls clarify. As it's rather important, I would appreciate it if anyone could provide the official source of information.

If they meet the RO and have visa exempted passport, they can return to Canada with expired PR cards.

I'm assuming "home" country is Singapore, which is a visa exempt country, so they should be able to enter (in theory). However, keep in mind, you can be denied access just like any other visitor because you are no longer considered a PR holder if it has expired. You will be considered a visitor to Canada.

The other option, if you parents have maintained residency requirements, they can apply for a renewal and wait for it to arrive before returning.
