Expired PR Card employment query

Hello all,
My PR card has expired while i am in-country, and i am waiting until time passes to meet the residency obligation to re-apply, and receive my renewed PR card. Even though i am legally entitled to continue working in Canada despite my expired PR card, i was just offered a job that i applied for, and Human Resources asked for evidence of my work status in canada, i provided them my expired PR card, and they have rejected it because of the expiry.
Does anyone have any advice? I am sure i do have legal status to work dont i? Is there anything else i can provide them?

Do you still have your COPR and assume anyway you have a SIN ?

I have a COPR yes, i could give a copy of that to them, and i have a permanent SIN card, which i have already given a copy of. Is the SIN card all that an employer should need to verify my legal work status?
