HI all thanks for this and now seeing information on a "dormant" SIN earlier

I now have another question and hope you do not mind me positing here. It is clear that my PR has not been met and we are not sure if i will be able to reenter into Canada. If i do get in how can i work if i am not sure my SIN is dormant?

As a back up plan we have now submitted an EOI profile and if we do get selected i will denounce my expired PR. So a new question on this new development...

If i have a Canadian job ( i have an expired PR card and not sure if my SIN is dormant.) I am being offered a job from a Montreal company but i am going to be working overseas.

Would this count as work experience in Canada? (i have a new express entry profile with my family)

I have not denounce my PR status (as yet)

As i mentioned earlier If i get an ITA i will then denounce my old PR as i am not sure i can apply if i am still a PR with no RO. Due to my age etc our CRS points is quote low 370 so wonder if i had 1 year working experience if it counts and then i am up to 420 (which is still low but can look into the PNPs) as well.

Thanks

Others can comment but do not think that just because someone is employed by a Canadian company overseas that that counts as Canadian work experience, foreign experience maybe but not Canadian given you would be subject to the employment practices and processes of the host country and not Canada.

If you look the CEC criteria it clearly states need to be in Canada experience.

To qualify for the CEC through Express Entry, you must have:

  • at least 12 months of skilled work experience in Canada, in the last three years (before you apply). The work was:
    • full-time OR
    • an equal amount in part-time
  • gained your work experience in Canada with the proper authorization

No - that's definitely not Canadian work experience. It will be classified as foreign work experience.

You have to be physically working in Canada to count the work experience as Canadian work experience.

You you were able to "sneak" back into Canada unreported and wanted to stay here 2 years to come back into compliance with RO, you can go into any SIN office to simply re-activate your dormant SIN. While they may ask questions on why you were not working in Canada for so long, they don't routinely report to IRCC so it shouldn't have any effect on your PR status (at least not that I've ever heard of from others who have done this).
